3PC stands for Progressive Personal Protection Concepts, this is a modern self- defense program designed for the 21st century.
Progressive is a modern approach using the latest statistics and                                      techniques.
Personal relates to the individual
Protection is the self-defense techniques.
Concepts are adaptable for the individual and the situation.

3PC was created by Mr. John Mayer. Mr. Mayer’s expertise in self-defense evolved three fold: Academically, Martial Arts, & Law Enforcement.  He currently holds a Master of Criminal Justice degree from Boston University and is currently working on his Doctorate of Psychology with a specialization in Criminology.    He holds black belts in several martial arts with the highest rank being an 8th degree black belt and the title of “Shihan”.  He has over 25 years of law enforcement experience in both local and Federal agencies specializing in investigations of violent crime.

These concepts are designed to be effective and politically correct.  Thus, if an individual has to use her skills in defending themselves it can be backed up by the legal system.

The mantra for 3PC is “Distract, Escape, Survive”. In short, if you find yourself in a situation where you must defend yourself then you must have a plan on what to do.  This is not “well if I am grabbed here I do this” or if “someone swings here I do that”, this is a plan that for that worse case scenario or potential scenario you must “Distract, Escape, Survive”.  Distract is the effect of turning an attackers thought process away from hurting you.  This may evolve using sound, light, speaking or physical techniques. Escape is the fact that you do not want to stick around and give an attacker a second chance to do you harm.  Fleeing the scene, contacting authorities are all part of this term.  Survival is the ultimate goal, no matter what happens, your goal should be to live another day. Live for your family, friends and yourself.  Become a stronger, wiser person that can help other people.
